Application of Sanken VM05 Inverter in doubler twister

Doubler twister is a kind of commonly used equipment in metal product industry. It is suitable for stranding drawn steel wires into ropes. The coiling part requires control to the tension. With the V. F separation function of Sanken VM05/SHF series inverters, the output frequency and voltage can be set separately, suitable for control of discretional torques. So it is very suitable for applications in similar equipment.

II. Control mode:

The tension control part is composed of the Sanken SHF series inverter and the torque motor. The PLC provides the inverter with the operation signals and analog voltage signals (0-10V). When the equipment is started, it needs larger tension. PLC provides with variable analog voltage signals. It is larger (approx. 8V) at the beginning of start, and then decreases to 7V approximately during the operation and keeps stable.

The frequency of the inverter is set from the panel. The input voltage commands (0-10VDC inputted from VRF1) and operation commands are given by the external PLC. The input voltage commands are given by the PLC according to the calculated values on the basis of the tension needed by the equipment (as shown in the above right figure), and can be adjusted slightly through the setting unit on the operation panel.

IV. Summary
According to the measurement to the coiling tension by the I-shaped wheel during the coiling process, the tension variation range is within the tolerance. The tension value measured at the end of the coiling is 17.8N approximately. Compared with the torque controller, the tension deviation range is smaller, fully conforming to the process requirements.
